LAURA TOMA
About Me
Hi! I’m a contemporary dance artist based in Montréal, Canada. In 2012 I became the first certified Gaga teacher in Canada.
In addition to my ongoing Gaga/people classes, I've been a guest teacher with Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, TanzMainz, Gauthier Dance, and L’école Supérieure de Ballet du Québec, among others.
I'm co-founder and co-choreographer of LA TRESSE alongside partners Geneviève Boulet and Erin O’Loughlin. Between 2014 and 2022 I was a core member of Andrea Peña and Artists, touring nationally and internationally. In 2016, I performed at the Venice Biennale of Dance with Israeli/French choreographer Emanuel Gat. Most recently I've been working on a new project with internationally acclaimed modern choreographer/dancer Margie Gillis.
My practices merge dance, meditation, photography, video/sound art, graphic and object design.
